Market Recommendation: Cheese less Pizza anyone?

Does that sound good? I'd be honest when a friend of mine introduced me to it, I just didn't agree with anything being called a Pizza if it didn't have cheese on it. Isn't that part of the definition?

Well, you may or may not agree with the name but I guarantee you that if you haven't had a pizza in a while because you are a Vegan or you can't tolerate lactose (as I can't) then believe me this thing is not too shabby.

It's called Amy's Roasted Vegetable Pizza (No Cheese). Marketed as a Vegan and a Non-dairy "Pizza", I have to admit it's pretty darn tasty! My recommendation try it out once for sure.

Official Name: Amy's Roasted Vegetable Pizza (No Cheese)

Price: ~$4 to $6 (varies from store to store)

Where I bought it from? Whole Foods (its in the pizza section)

Product Site: Click here

Topped off with roasted peppers and mushrooms, its seasoned pretty decently with basic spices. The size is of a generous proportion (4 big pieces), so I won't suggest it for one person for a single meal (unless you are real hungry that day). Now I can ramble about how it tasted (Google it you will find bunch of other sites talking about that) but you really have to try it out yourself.

Well, I can't just list a product and not give you any insights on how you can make it taste better, now can I? :)

Try it with a twist

First off, if only one person is going to have it, I would suggest break it into two pieces when its frozen (just easier to bend it then) and zip lock it in the freezer. You can follow the oven directions on the box or try what I did.

Heat up a flat bottom pan or a griddle. While its heating up, pop in half piece of the pizza in the microwave (oh yes please do remove the plastic cover) and heat it for 30 secs on high. It's going to get a little soggy. So we have to make it crispier. Toss the pizza on the pan with the bread base on the bottom. Let it sit there till the base gets crispier. It takes about 2-3 minutes on a hot pan.

Now comes fun part.

- Get some plain Hummus (we need some protein)
- Next spread it out evenly.
- Now chop some fresh tomatoes and maybe some fresh onions (the more red, the better).
- Sprinkle them over the hummus generously.
- Top it off with freshly cut cilantro.

And you are done my friend!

I wish I took a picture of it the last time I "made" it. But take it from me, this is going to taste real well!

You can replace the hummus with guacamole (the fresh version from Whole foods tastes even better).

On a nice hot Sunday, try this with a glass of fresh Sangria (don't have to make it, just pick a glass or two from any nice near-by restaurant) or you can have a glass of a chilled Sauvignon Blanc!

Enjoy!
